Plant Description: This bottlebrush plant is a unique Callistemon that produces vivid red new growth for 2 months in Autumn and 2 months in Spring, and is the ideal native alternative to Photinia
Uses: Small to Medium hedge (also as a specimen shrub)
Position & Tolerances: Full sun to part shade. Very drought and frost tolerant. Moderate Myrtle Rust Resistance
Height & Width: 60cm-2m high x 50cm-1.5m wide (pruned), 2-2.4m high x 1.5-2m wide (unpruned)
Flowers: Rarely if ever flowers
Foliage: Vivid new red growth for two months in autumn and two months in spring, with lighter new red growth for more months of the year
Soil Type: Most soil types
Best Planting Time: March to October
Planting Density: 1-2 plants per linear metre (1-2 plants per m²)
Where it thrives: QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS, SA and WA
Pruning: Prune 1-3 times per year after red new growth for a tidy hedge, more regular pruning results in a tidier, denser hedge

Establishment & Extra Care:

Water as required for 8-13 weeks until established.
Plant in a well mulched garden, a chunky mulch is recommended.
Use slow release fertiliser in spring, if required.
